Big Half Helps UC Irvine Top Tennessee Tech

UC Irvine outscored Tennessee Tech, 46-36, in the second half to win, 78-67, in action Saturday at the Oakland Tribune Classic in Berkeley.
Leticia Oceguera scored 27 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for UC Irvine (4-5). Megan Stafford made three of four three-pointers and scored 19 points. She also had 11 rebounds and three steals.
UC Irvine’s defense held Tennessee Tech (3-4) to 38% shooting from the field and 23% from three-point range.
Meanwhile, the Anteaters made 47% from the field and 60% of their three-pointers. They also made 21 of 28 free throws (75%).
In a nonconference game:
Southern California College 60, Minot (S.D.) State 51--Alana Kempton led SCC with 17 points. Elaine Whittemore had 14 points, nine rebounds and six assists for the Vanguards (8-2).
