Ex-Nynex Exec Named Chairman of View Tech

Paul C. O’Brien, recently retired chairman and chief executive of New England Telephone, has been appointed chairman of the board of directors of View Tech Inc. in Camarillo.

In conjunction with the appointment, Telecom Holding, an investment company organized by O’Brien, has agreed to invest in View Tech.

O’Brien is past chairman of New England Telephone, the unit of Nynex covering the New England region. He serves on the boards of several companies, including the Bank of Boston, Shiva Corp., First Pacific Networks and Cambridge NeuroScience.

O’Brien is president of the O’Brien Group, a communications consulting firm, and Pan-Asia, an investment firm concentrating on Asian ventures.

Telecom will invest in newly issued shares of View Tech’s stock. View Tech plans to use the proceeds from this transaction to increase its working capital and pay costs associated with its recent merger with USTeleCenters Inc. of Boston.

View Tech provides businesses with voice, video and data telecommunications systems and network services.
