Simi Valley police have arrested a teenager in a carjacking involving a disabled Simi Valley man last week.
The 17-year-old Simi Valley youth was taken into custody by Simi Valley police detectives Tuesday in Tarzana as he stood on a sidewalk waiting for an acquaintance, police said.
The suspect was booked and is being held in Juvenile Hall.
Police recovered the stolen pickup truck, slightly damaged from a minor collision, on the Antelope Valley Freeway near Santa Clarita a few days before the suspect was arrested.
Police say they found evidence in the car that led to the suspect.
The victim, Edward Black, 47, was carjacked Feb. 2 near his home in the 1800 block of Rory Lane in Simi Valley. Black pleaded with the suspect to get his wheelchair out of the truck, police said. The suspect complied and then allegedly took off in Black’s truck.
