Group Is Sponsoring Student Essay Contest

The Ventura chapter of Native Daughters of the Golden West, a nonprofit organization composed of members born in California, is sponsoring an essay contest for Ventura County schoolchildren titled the “Wonders of California.”
The essay, due by April 4, can include topics ranging from the natural and geographical characteristics of California to the cultural and historical aspects of the Golden State.
Contestants are required to submit typewritten 250- to 500-word essays and must be from the fourth through eighth grade. The winner from each grade level will be awarded $75, and all contestants will be recognized with a certificate for their efforts.
