Justice Seeks More Info on Raytheon Deal

Raytheon Co. said the Justice Department asked for additional information about the defense giant’s proposed $2.95-billion acquisition of Texas Instruments Inc.’s defense-electronics business. A spokesman for Raytheon said the request shouldn’t delay the deal’s completion, scheduled for the second quarter. It could, however, put off review of Raytheon’s planned purchase of General Motors Corp.’s Los Angeles-based Hughes Electronics division for $9.5 billion in stock and assumed debt. The spokesman said Raytheon hadn’t decided whether to postpone seeking antitrust review of the Hughes deal until the department finishes looking at Texas Instruments. He declined to say what areas have raised concerns at the department.
