A rock band made up of police officers and plenty of police paraphernalia will be on display at the Ventura Police Department’s sixth annual block party on Saturday, officials said.
The party, which will feature public service displays and entertainment, will be held at the Dowell Drive station from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
Among the activities will be a dunking booth featuring Police Chief Richard Thomas and City Manager Donna Landeros. Music will be provided by the group Mutual Aid, an all-police band that plays rock, and Caught Red-Handed, a country-western band.
There will also be canine demonstrations and displays of police equipment, including a helicopter, a tow truck and a bomb-retrieving robot, and appearances by horses that are part of the mounted patrol.
Raffle prizes will include a trip to Las Vegas, golf lessons, new golf clubs and dinners. For more information, call 339-4336.
