Truck Spills Glass, Closing Road

MISSION HILLS — A large truck overturned and spilled 48,000 pounds of plate glass early Thursday morning, closing the westbound transition road between the San Diego and Ronald Reagan freeways for about six hours, authorities said.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident, and the driver--identified as George Carson, 36, of Lucerne Valley in San Bernardino County--suffered only minor injuries, said Officer Doug Sweeney, of the California Highway Patrol’s Santa Clarita station.
The accident occurred about 5:30 a.m. as Carson apparently took the slight curve on the transition road too fast and overturned, Sweeney said. Carson was driving a three-axle rig and hauling a two-axle flatbed.
The transition road reopened about 11 a.m., according to authorities. No citations were given, but the accident remained under investigation, Sweeney said.
