Volunteers are sweeping the streets and readying the city for this weekend’s third annual Gogh Van Orange Art and Music Festival.
Hours will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with a selection of musical performances and art displays in the city’s historic Old Towne Plaza planned.
Holly Harman, art chairwoman, said Saturday’s music will feature jazz and blues bands, with Peter White, the Tony Guerreo Group and Taryn Donath among the bands taking the main stage. Sunday will feature big bands and swing with Roy Gaines, Margie Evans and the Tribute to Duke Ellington Band.
The free public event will also feature 1,200 pieces of art by elementary students in Orange Unified School District, as well as booths with works by more than 50 professional artists.
Harman said events will also include fine wine and cigar sampling, an antique car show and an art competition.
Last year’s popular street drawing contest, which requires participants to re-create a Vincent Van Gogh masterpiece with chalk on the sidewalk, is again expected to draw big crowds, organizers said.
