A 5-year-old Moorpark boy who was run over by a minivan appeared to escape serious injury, authorities said Sunday.
According to police, Jeremy Hernandez was lying on top of a skateboard and pulling himself with his hands along a sidewalk in the 400 block of Bard Street in Moorpark when he was run over by the vehicle about 7 p.m. Saturday.
Police said Isabel Arias, 40, of Camarillo was traveling north on Bard Street and was pulling into a driveway when she struck Hernandez. A truck parked next to the driveway prevented her from seeing the boy, police said.
Hernandez suffered abdominal injuries and was taken to Columbia Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks, where he was treated and released.
