Gunmen Kill Woman, 2 Men in Apartment

A pregnant woman and two men were shot to death Sunday by gunmen who burst through a security door and opened fire as the victims watched TV in a Florence-area apartment, authorities said.
The woman’s fetus, of almost 6 months’ gestation, did not survive. None of the victims’ names were released Sunday night.
Authorities believe as many as four people took part in the shootings, which began when the shooters burst through the apartment’s steel mesh security door about 10:30 a.m.
“We’re certain that the people who went in there knew what they were going to do when they entered,” said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Raymond Peavy. “They did it and got out very quickly.”
A getaway driver in a 1994 maroon Mustang waited outside, Peavy said.
“One [body] was on a bed in the bedroom, the other two were on the floor in a great pool of blood,” Peavy said.
Investigators found a .45-caliber handgun at the scene, but they have not yet determined whether it was used in the killings, Peavy said.
Little was immediately known about the victims, other than that they appeared to be in their 20s, Peavy said.
“Three people just moved in a few days ago and nobody seems to know them,” Peavy said. “That’s quite unusual.”
