A pet/owner look-alike contest, a pie-eating competition, karaoke contest and star-spangled baby pageant should provide a few giggles at this year’s Seabee Days Summerfest in Port Hueneme next weekend.
The Naval Construction Battalion Center will be open to the public at 10 a.m. Saturday, with live music from rock bands Java Heads, The Excuses and Finnhead. A motorcycle show will be featured all day Saturday. The pet look-alike contest will begin at 1:15 p.m., and the pie-eating contest at 2:15 p.m.
The karaoke contest gets underway at 2:30 p.m., with the winner earning two round-trip tickets from Alaska Airlines.
Featured Sunday will be a pre-1975 car show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. More live rock music and the star-spangled baby contest get underway at 11:45 a.m.
Call 382-8855 by Thursday for details about registering in any of the contests.
Enter the Summerfest at the Pleasant Valley gate, near the intersection of Pleasant Valley and Ventura roads in Oxnard. Parking and admission are free.
