Decimal Quotes

Beginning today, The Times’ market story will quote stocks in decimals, reflecting U.S. markets’ move to increasingly narrow price increments. Decimal quotes have been standard in other Times stories. For now, The Times’ stock table quotes will remain in fractions. However, all U.S. markets expect to move to full decimal pricing before 2000.
We invite readers to comment on whether they would favor a faster move to decimal quotes in our stock tables. Messages can be left at (213) 237-4557. Meanwhile, a full fraction-to-decimal conversion chart appears on D4 today.
