Sponsors Sought for Benefit Golf Tourney

The Boys & Girls Club of Simi Valley is looking for a few good sponsors for its annual golf tournament fund-raiser Sept. 24.
Residents or business owners can sponsor a tee for $100. Checks of any amount will be accepted to help purchase baseball, badminton, table tennis and air hockey equipment for the 2,500 children who belong to the club.
The event raised about $15,000 for the club last year. That money goes directly toward purchasing sporting goods for youngsters, said Executive Director Linda White. The sponsorship money helps defray the cost of renting the golf course and buying refreshments.
While the tournament, in its eighth year, typically takes place in August, this year it will be part of September’s Simi Valley Days.
The event will begin with a 1 p.m. shotgun start and “Texas scramble” play. The entry fee of $100 per couple or $375 for a foursome covers greens fees, golf carts, lunch, door prizes and trophies.
Already, First Western Bank, the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise, Pacific Beverage Co. and American Golf have signed on as major sponsors of the tournament, which will take place at Simi Hills Golf Course, 5031 Alamo St.
For information on registering or sponsorship, call the club at 527-4437.
