IRVINE — HomeBase warehouses said Thursday that it has removed certain floor-stand and desktop oscillating fans from its store shelves because the products didn’t meet Underwriters Laboratories Inc. safety requirements.
The Irvine home improvement company said that Underwriters had notified it that three models of Envirotech and Enviro-Temp fans didn’t comply with standards.
HomeBase, a unit of Waban Inc., said it will honor returns by customers of Envirotech and Enviro-Temp products, including the eight-inch desk fan, model FBD-208; the 10-inch box fan, model FB-102H; and the 12-inch oscillating fan, model FBD-612.
In a separate release, Underwriters said it notified consumers and merchandisers that certain plastic oscillating electric fans bearing the name Envirotech or Enviro-Temp may present a “shock or fire hazard.”
