Wounded Boy Dies; Police Seek Leads in Case

A 17-year-old boy who was shot near his apartment building died at UCLA Medical Center early Thursday, Los Angeles police said.
The youth, identified as Alfonso Paniagua Jr., was shot more than once as he stood in a driveway in the 11900 block of Culver Boulevard shortly before midnight Wednesday.
An LAPD official said police believe the victim was a member of a street gang.
Police had no suspects in the killing Thursday and did not know of any witnesses.
