A 27-year-old Costa Mesa man was being held Thursday night on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly shooting a co-worker in the back, police said.
John Charles Tilch was in the Orange County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail after the attack in the parking lot of S & M Moving Systems at 2481 Alton Parkway, according to Irvine Police Lt. Tom Hume.
The victim, Janos Weber, 26, of Costa Mesa, was listed in stable condition Thursday after surgery at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, Hume said.
Tilch allegedly drove to the workplace, found the victim working on a truck and opened fire with a .45-caliber handgun, Hume said. He was arrested without incident near the scene.
The two men were involved in a fight Wednesday night and have a history of confrontations, police said.
