IRVINE — Toshiba America Electronic Components, the U.S. arm of one of the world’s largest suppliers of semiconductors and integrated circuits, named Hideo Ito as its new chairman and chief executive Monday.
Ito started with Toshiba Corp. in 1969 with the International Cooperation Division. Since then, he has worked in several different offices, most recently serving a stint as general manager of sales and marketing for Toshiba’s Semiconductor Group. Ito, who unofficially stepped into his new role June 2, will share daily responsibilities with Robert Brown, the Irvine firm’s president and chief operating officer.
Ito replaces Takeshi Nakagawa, who was promoted to head of all Toshiba products for the Asian market.
