Home Loans Offered After Taking Course

Special loan programs will be available to low- and moderate-income first-time home buyers in Thousand Oaks who complete a free course this weekend sponsored by two area housing organizations.
Many Mansions Inc. and Pacific Partners Mortgage Corp. will sponsor the “School of Homebuying,” where participants can learn about purchasing a home.
Topics include the advantages and disadvantages of home buying, how to look for a home, selecting a real estate agent and lender, determining the family’s budget, loan qualifying and how to maximize the buyer’s long-term investment.
‘It’s the biggest decision they’re ever going to make in their life economically,” said David Dickstein, president of Pacific Partners.
The city housing program provides low-interest second-mortgage loans to finance the down payment and closing costs for those buying in Thousand Oaks.
Completing a pre-purchase course qualifies people for these loans, Dickstein said.
The course runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Pacific Partners office, 5950 Conoga Ave., Suite 605, Woodland Hills.
Thirty-five seats are available, and reservations must be made by calling (800) 607-1794.
