Exile Flotilla Sheds Little Light in Cuba

A Cuban exile flotilla returned safely to the U.S. after attempting to stage a pro-democracy laser show in waters off Cuba. Although the message they tried to write in the sky with laser beams from a boat was barely seen in Havana, protest organizers called the event a success. The laser beam could be seen only intermittently, witnesses said. Havana residents ignored the Miami-based Democracy Movement’s call to gather on the Malecon esplanade and bang pots and pans while the message lit the sky.
