Japan America Theatre Adds Troupes to Lineup

Two Japanese imports, ancient and contemporary, have just been added to the Japan America Theatre schedule in December.
One of two official theater forms patronized by the Shogunate, Kyogen will be represented by Nomura Kyogen Theater, whose leader, Nomura Mansaku, has been designated an Intangible Cultural Asset in Japan. The company performs two traditional works, “Neck Pulling” and “The Groom in the Boat,” Dec. 5. On Dec. 9, H Art Chaos, an all-female dance-theater troupe, remakes “Rite of Spring”--with trapezes.
