Chapman Law School Construction Begins

Chapman University officials have announced the start of construction on an $18-million law school in a historic building across from its campus.
The move to build the 130,000-square-foot law school is an attempt to garner national accreditation.
Nearly 60 law school students recently accepted tuition refunds due to the lack of national accreditation. Some students sued over the accreditation status.
By mid-February, officials said they will know if the school receives accreditation from the American Bar Assn.
The law school, in its third year, has been operating in leased space in Anaheim.
During a ceremony last week, the university’s Student Bar Assn. presented a 50-year time capsule, including letters, restaurant menus, university T-shirts and newspaper articles, to be placed in a cornerstone of the new building.
