Hedy Lamarr

I enjoyed reading Peter Y. Hong’s article on movie legend Hedy Lamarr (Aug. 30), with the exception of the headline, “A Starlet’s Secret Life--as an Engineer.”
Lamarr was never a starlet. With her American debut in “Algiers” in 1938, she became a star and after that, with her MGM movies, she went on to become one of the biggest stars of the 1940s. The highlight of her career was playing Delilah in Cecil B. DeMille’s “Samson and Delilah.”
