Cori Fredette singled home Laura Stayer in the eighth inning to give Moorpark High a 1-0 Frontier League softball victory over Calabasas on Friday at Moorpark.
Calabasas (10-5-1, 7-1 in league play) defeated Moorpark (10-2, 8-1) in 16 innings earlier this season, 1-0, and the teams will play May 12 in the season finale at Calabasas.
Sophomore Amy Rosson (8-4) struck out 13 for Calabasas, while Erin Heinbechner scattered eight hits and struck out five for Moorpark.
Rio Mesa 7, San Marcos 0--Marcella Ramirez (7-2) pitched a three-hitter with four strikeouts and Laura Moreno drove in three runs for the Spartans (12-2, 7-0) in a Channel League game at San Marcos.
Dos Pueblos 4, Ventura 1--Camille Minkel’s seventh-inning single was the only hit for the Cougars (3-9, 1-7) in a Channel League loss at Ventura.
Marie Gensler struck out five and walked one for Dos Pueblos (11-10, 7-1).
The Chargers broke a scoreless tie with a four-run sixth inning highlighted by Stephanie Elliott’s three-run home run.
Louisville 2, Notre Dame 0--Stefanie Urman pitched a one-hitter with six strikeouts and Christina Jordt hit a home run for the Royals (7-5, 1-1) in a Mission League game at Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Park.
Christine Zahka doubled in the second inning for Notre Dame’s only hit.
Chaminade 3, Harvard-Westlake 0--Maureen LeCocq pitched a one-hitter with six strikeouts for the Eagles (8-6-1, 3-0) in a Mission League game at Chaminade.
Jenny Bruno singled with one out in the seventh off LeCocq (8-6), whose eighth shutout lowered her earned-run average to 0.19.
L.A. Baptist 7, Frazier Mountain 1--Stephanie Thuotte had two hits, including a run-scoring double in a five-run first for the Knights (10-3, 1-1) in an Alpha League game at L.A. Baptist.
Nikki Girard (10-3) of L.A. Baptist struck out 11 and hit a solo home run.
Santa Paula 3, Malibu 2--Alexis Marshall’s run-scoring single with one out in the seventh inning gave the Cardinals (7-5, 5-2) a Frontier League victory at Santa Paula.
Viewpoint 5, Oakwood 2--KimMi Whitehead had a run-scoring single in a three-run second inning and another one in a two-run third for the Patriots (5-4, 2-3) in a Liberty League game at Litton Field in Woodland Hills.
