Give Governor a Non-English Test
* In your Aug. 25 article regarding problems with the Stanford 9 tests, there was a paragraph saying that “not surprisingly, limited-English-proficient” students did far worse on tests given only in English. Really? Is this something we didn’t know before?
I challenge our “education friendly” Gov. Pete Wilson to take that same test in a language he is not fluent in and then post his scores for all to see. If the kids must do it, then let him try. Perhaps he could find time to take the test after he finishes gutting our education bills. We are still near the bottom for our pupil spending.
Maybe the public can understand our problems in education are higher up the ladder than our teachers and local school districts. Thanks, Gov. Wilson!
