OUTLOOK
Although only four starters return, Orloff is still excited about this team. “All around, we could be better than last year,” Orloff said, explaining that his team lacks varsity experience. A key returner is Walker, who is being recruited as a quarterback and defensive back by Arizona State, New Mexico, and other Pac-10 and west region colleges. Wayland, another college prospect, returns to anchor the offensive line. Myrill, a transfer from Rancho Bernardo, should help fill in at running back, where Julio Peraza rushed for 1,826 yards last season. O’Brian, who was plagued by injuries last season, and Alarcon should make immediate impacts on defense but both will play key roles offensively, too. “We’re not deep,” said Orloff, who has only 34 players on the varsity roster.
