Re “North Korea’s Latest Provocation May Be Last Straw,” Sept. 1: I’d like to know how an isolated Stalinist state, with an impoverished, starving and dying population, can afford to build huge underground nuclear facilities and test dual-stage missiles?
While the press has commented on ways to contain North Korea’s missile and nuclear research, nobody has raised this fundamental question: How has North Korea been able to fund and develop new technologies by being so politically, socially and economically isolated? Are there any other countries involved in helping North Korea technologically? Are North Koreans obtaining stolen technologies?
Why is the Clinton administration-intelligence community keeping quiet about this issue?
