Funds and Vendors Sought for Festival

The city’s Commission on Community Relations has raised nearly $3,000 of the more than $10,000 it needs for the annual Multicultural Festival.
The festival is set for Oct. 24 at Oxnard’s Performing Arts Center.
Sponsors have signed up, but commission Chairman Peter Erdos said cash is especially needed, as are vendors and organizations that want to exhibit their wares.
Last year, 600 people attended the festival, where art, exhibits, food and groups including international dancers and performers were featured.
This year, Erdos hopes the festival will be bigger and reach more people. The nearly $3,000 was collected last Thursday at a local fund-raiser.

The Commission on Community Relations was formed in 1969 to fight discrimination in the work force and housing. With the passage of the Fair Housing Act, the commission refocused its efforts on cultural diversity in the west county.
