Subway Hours

* Kudos to the MTA and Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky for considering extending the hours of the Blue and Red lines to midnight (Dec. 3). This would benefit not only the patrons of events at Staples Center but also those attending Music Center events downtown and Hollywood theater and movie lovers.
Recently, I used the Red Line to attend a night of theater at the Pantages, directly across from a Red Line subway station, but spent the last act worrying whether the play would end in time to catch the final train home. If MTA is serious about attracting broader audiences to use mass transit, it should start by making its use practical for special events like theater and sports. Extending hours to midnight would be a good first step.
