Perigon Buys 2 Firms to Expand Distribution

Perigon Medical Distribution Corp., a rapidly growing supplier of bandages, instruments, drugs and other health care items, said Thursday it acquired two more companies in a move to expand its distribution network nationwide.
Perigon, which is based in Laguna Hills, acquired Highpoint Medical Corp. in Grand Prairie, Texas, and Spurgas Medical Products in New Britain, Conn.
Highpoint is the largest independent medical supply distributor in Texas, with annual sales of about $10.5 million, Perigon said. Spurgas, which serves Connecticut and Massachusetts, has annual sales of $3 million.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Over the last 20 months, Perigon has acquired nine companies with sales of more than $65 million. The distributor said it hopes to acquire 20 additional companies by 2002.
