City Official Faces Child Pornography Charges

LONG BEACH — Police have arrested a Long Beach city administrator on charges of possessing child pornography, authorities said.
Kelton Reese, 56, manager of the city’s community parks program bureau, was arrested Tuesday, Long Beach Police Sgt. Steve Filippini said. He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 26, Filippini said.
Investigators found that Reese had allegedly stored child pornography on his computer at home, Filippini said. Police received a tip from employees at a computer repair store where Reese had taken his computer, Filippini said.
City officials declined to comment on the arrest, saying it was a personnel matter. But the Human Resources department issued a statement saying the city investigated the matter and dismissed Reese on Wednesday.
“As a result of our investigation of a criminal complaint issued by the city prosecutor, it was determined that his behavior and conduct was incompatible with his position as a manager and a city employee,” the statement said.
