Saddleback Third in Regional Golf

Saddleback finished tied for third at the Southern California golf championship Monday at Bakersfield Country Club and earned a berth in the state tournament.

Saddleback’s lowest score was turned in by Jeff Strang, who had rounds of 69 and 77 to finish at two-over 146.

Long Beach won at 749 and Canyons (755) was second. Saddleback and Desert tied at 757.

In Orange Empire Conference softball:

Fullerton 1, Saddleback 0--The Hornets clinched a tie for second place with Riverside, which will be the conference’s second-seeded team in the playoffs and Fullerton will receive the No. 3 seeding because of the tiebreaker.
