It was expected to earn 21 cents. Sales rose 69% to $115.2 million from $68.1 million.
* Priceline.com Inc., the Stamford, Conn.-based online auction site for airline tickets and hotel rooms, reported a first-quarter loss of $17.2 million, or 12 cents a share. Analysts had expected it to post a loss of 13 cents a share. Revenue was $49.4 million, topping analysts’ forecasts of about $43 million. There are no year-ago results, since the company began business in April 1998.
