Ventura 21, Royal 0--Scott Ellis helped the Cougars (3-0) remain undefeated by making a school-record four pass interceptions and blocking a field goal attempt at Ventura.
On Ventura’s second play of the game, Tyler Ebell score on an 88-yard touchdown run. Later in the quarter, Tino Guerri ran five yards for a touchdown to give Ventura a 14-0 lead.
Ebell scored on a one-yard run late in the fourth quarter and finished with 126 yards in 15 carries. Ventura rushed for 236 yards.
Royal (1-2) was held to 154 yards. Highlander quarterbacks Joe Brown and Bryce Klenck combined to complete six of 24 passes. Each threw two interceptions.
