Police identified Antonio Castello of Van Nuys as the homeless man who was shot and killed following an argument.
Castello, 46, was killed about 5:30 p.m. Sunday at a homeless encampment gated by shopping carts under the San Diego Freeway at Victory Boulevard and Haskell Avenue in Van Nuys, Det. Al Aldaz said.
No arrests have been made in the case, and police say they don’t know what the argument was about.
Castello lived at the encampment off and on for two years, Aldaz said. Other times, he lived with his wife of at least 14 years and two teenage sons, police said.
“Every now and then, he would move out due to marital problems,” Aldaz said.
Police said his wife described Castello, a day laborer, as a hard worker and a family man. His sons would visit him frequently at the encampment, Aldaz said.
Police ask anyone with information to call (818) 756-8377.
