PROFESSION: President of the Encino-based Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, which represents about 350 entertainment-related production companies, primarily based in the Los Angeles area.
LATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT: Twelve years of labor peace as a lead negotiator in ongoing contract talks between the producers and the industry’s creative talent, including writers, technicians, crafts guilds, the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. Today, the entertainment industry pays out more than $24 billion annually in salaries and benefits to workers, many of whom live or work in the San Fernando Valley.
GOALS FOR 2001: Successfully conclude labor negotiations without strikes and address issues facing the industry for the coming decade. The first challenge will be to settle issues with writers before the May 1 strike deadline. In addition, negotiators will be working to hammer out agreements with the industry talent by July 1.
