Saint Mary’s 77, Loyola Marymount 65--Jovan Harris scored a team-high 15 points at Moraga, Calif., to lead the Gaels (8-18, 3-10), who ended a losing streak at eight. The Lions (2-24, 0-13) losing skid extended to 13 games.
Saint Mary’s started the game on an 8-2 run and never looked back, leading the game from wire to wire. The Gaels shot 52% in the first half, while holding Loyola Marymount to 30%, to take a 43-24 lead at the intermission.
The Lions opened the second half on a 14-5 run to cut the lead to 48-38 with 16:07 remaining, but never got closer.
Rupert McClendon scored a game-high 28 points to pace the Lions, connecting on nine of 17 shots from the field. Elton Mashack posted a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
