Average Price of L.A. Hotel Room Up $6

Confidence in Los Angeles County as a travel destination pushed the average price for a hotel room in November to $115.24, up nearly $6 compared with a year earlier, local tourism officials said. The 5.4% increase came as average occupancy inched up 1.1 percentage points over the same month last year to hit 70% capacity, according to PKF Consulting, which tracks the local hospitality industry. The increase in room price means Los Angeles is still a top choice among business and leisure travelers, said Michael Collins of the Los Angeles Convention & Visitors Bureau. Meanwhile, average hotel prices fell in November in Orange County, which continues to see sluggish tourism rates because of extensive construction in Anaheim. The average room price fell to $102.40 from $103.06 a year earlier, while occupancy stayed unchanged at about 64%.
