The new traffic signal at the entrance to the community center and sports complex may already be in use, but construction on the complex itself is still underway.
Residents won’t begin seeing the shape of the city’s new 42,000-square-foot center at Alicia Parkway and Community Center Drive for another couple of weeks, said Kerry Lehrbass, senior estimator for the center.
Kenneth Rosenfield, director of public works for the city, said the center won’t open for business until January 2001. Construction on the center’s skate park, hockey rink, playground and four sports fields by contractor C.W. Poss Inc., is scheduled to be completed this spring with a July 4th dedication ceremony, Rosenfield said. Information: (949) 707-2600.
