Oxnard def. Channel Islands, 15-3, 15-2, 15-0--Sarah Morrison had 10 kills and Sara Naumann had nine for the Yellowjackets (10-3, 3-0) in a Pacific View League victory at Oxnard.
Vasquez def. Kern Valley, 15-12, 10-15, 15-10, 17-15--Michelle Lindsey had 17 kills and the Mustangs (2-5, 1-1) recorded their first Desert Mountain League victory in history at Kern Valley.
Faith Baptist def. First Lutheran, 15-9, 11-15, 7-15, 15-9, 15-1--Teena Carlos had 14 kills, 16 digs and four aces in a Heritage League victory at Faith Baptist.
Jessica Velasquez of Faith Baptist (6-1, 1-0) had 24 digs and eight kills.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Cal Lutheran def. Chapman, 15-13, 4-15, 3-15, 15-11, 15-10--Sally Jahraus had 16 kills and 25 digs, and Kari Whitney had 49 assists and 21 digs for host Chapman (8-6).
BOYS’ CROSS-COUNTRY
Newbury Park 24, Westlake 31--Senior Warren Livingston won his first race of the season to pace Newbury Park in a Marmonte League meet at Westlake.
Newbury Park held a 27-28 lead based on its places after 1 3/4 miles, but the Panthers (8-2, 1-1) took control after that as Livingston and senior teammate Brandon Nakagawa moved from third and fourth place to first and second ahead of brothers Joel and Arturo Villagomez of Westlake (2-1, 2-1).
GIRLS’ CROSS-COUNTRY
Newbury Park 23, Westlake 37--Freshman Ashley Jones was a surprise winner for the Warriors, but Newbury Park had six of the top eight finishers in the Marmonte League meet at Westlake.
Jones, in her first season of competitive cross-country, broke away from senior Jennifer Turk of Newbury Park (8-2, 1-1) in the second mile and clocked 19:27 over the three-mile course.
Turk, third in the Ventura County and Marmonte League championships last year, was second in 19:30.
