State Takes Custody of Newborn Baby
A pregnant member of a fundamentalist sect who was held in a Boston medical facility to protect her fetus gave birth to a girl who was taken into state custody. Rebecca Corneau gave birth to a 7-pound, 15-ounce baby, prosecutor Gerry FitzGerald said. The girl’s fate will be decided by the courts. Corneau and her husband, David, are members of a Christian sect in Attleboro that rejects conventional medicine. Investigators have spent more than a year looking into the disappearance of two children in the sect, including a newborn son of the Corneaus.
