3rd-Party Candidates
* I read “Down-to-Wire Race Fails to Excite Voters” (Oct. 12), about lack of interest in the TV presidential debates and the campaigns. Instead of not voting, registered voters should do what I plan to do: Vote for a third-party candidate. This is not to take votes away from George W. Bush or Al Gore but to give a third-party candidate a chance to show what he can do.
Why do we keep voting Democratic or Republican and then do nothing but complain about the choices we made? We should follow the example of the citizens of Mexico, who voted the ruling party out of power and gave another candidate a chance. Are we afraid of voting for someone who is inexperienced in politics? Well, look what the experienced politicians are giving us. At this point, what do we really have to lose?
