Thank you for finally printing an intelligent commentary supporting drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (“Wildlife and Drilling Can Coexist,” Commentary, Aug. 9). The most dangerous element in our society is ignorance. I am an environmentalist and I voted for Al Gore, but President Bush is correct on ANWR.
The caribou and mosquitoes are going to do just fine, regardless of what happens on Alaska’s North Slope.
