The Toronto Maple Leafs signed free-agent right wing Alexander Mogilny, a two-time 50-goal scorer, to a multiyear contract.
Mogilny, 32, spent last season with the New Jersey Devils and finished sixth in the NHL with 43 goals in 75 games and ranked 15th in total points with 83. In 25 playoff games, he added five goals and 11 assists as the Devils lost to the Colorado Avalanche in the Stanley Cup finals.
Forward Rob Ray, the Buffalo Sabres’ all-time leader in penalty minutes, signed a one-year deal to remain with the team. . . . Mike Sullivan, an unrestricted free agent, re-signed with the Phoenix Coyotes, agreeing to a one-year deal for $600,000.
