Adrian Armando Chaparro, 22, was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison without parole for shooting his girlfriend to death on New Year’s Day 1999 and hiding her body in the desert.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Ronald S. Coen sentenced Chaparro in the first-degree murder of Patricia Ayala, 20.
Chaparro shot Ayala in the midsection in a Palmdale home, then drove her to a remote part of the desert and shot her in the chest and head, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Alisanne Scolnik.
He left Ayala’s body in the desert, where authorities recovered it a few days later.
