Hong Kong’s Teachers Don’t Have Write Stuff

More than 60% of Hong Kong’s English-language teachers failed a writing test for proficiency in the subject, the government said.
Of the 387 teachers who took the writing test, only 33% reached the level required, a statement said.
The test, which was not compulsory, had been criticized by many Hong Kong teachers as demeaning.
The Chinese territory’s government earlier assured teachers that they wouldn’t lose their jobs if they failed, saying they would be assigned to other subjects or be allowed to take a training course.
