Coaches Get Renewals

Dan Evans’ first official move as new Dodger General Manager on Wednesday was renewing the contracts of Manager Jim Tracy’s coaching staff for the 2002 season, giving the rookie manager a modicum of continuity to work with this winter and next year.
“Barring a managerial change [elsewhere] where they may come and try to invade this staff and then talk to Danny [Evans] about getting permission to talk to one of my coaches,” Tracy said, “I would be very hopeful that it’s going to work out where they’re all coming back. They’ve all been invited back.”
Tracy’s staff is bench coach Jim Riggleman, pitching coach Jim Colborn, hitting coach Jack Clark, bullpen coach Jim Lett, third base coach Glenn Hoffman, first base coach John Shelby and coach Manny Mota.
