KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An 11-year-old boy died after being injured during a Pop Warner football game.
Rodney L. Coen II, of Independence, died early Wednesday, according to a Children’s Mercy Hospital spokesman.
The boy was in critical condition with head injuries since being hurt Saturday while returning a kickoff. Coach Ron Smith said a pair of defenders hit him high and low. He got up after the play, walked about two steps and then collapsed, Smith said.
