Commerce One Issues Sales, Profit Warning

Commerce One Inc., a maker of software for buying goods over the Internet, said third-quarter sales and profit won’t meet analysts’ estimates as companies reduced software purchases.
The Pleasanton, Calif.-based company said it expects a loss of 24 cents to 25 cents a share on sales of $80 million to $83 million. Analysts were expecting a loss of 23 cents on sales of $90.6 million, according to Thomson Financial/First Call.
Shares of Commerce One, which have fallen 89% this year, fell 8 cents to close at $2.81 on Nasdaq.
