The City Council has approved a resolution honoring victims of terrorism but condemning the bombing of Afghanistan.
The 5-4 vote Tuesday night came after much debate by students, residents and council members. Councilwoman Dona Spring urged U.S. leaders to bring terrorists to justice through the legal system, rather than by violence.
Last month, the council unanimously voted to commend Rep. Barbara Lee for being the only member of Congress to oppose granting President Bush wide-ranging authority to use military force against terrorists.
