A Hillside Home With a Starry Outlook

Madonna’s Castillo del Lago, her famous former home near the landmark Hollywood sign, was the inspiration for the design of this house, known as Casa de Lila.
Built in 1994, it looks as if it is from the 1920s. The designer wanted the multilevel house to be one of the Hollywood Hills’ few trophy properties. Using astrology, he created the home for what he deemed perfect viewing of the moon, the stars and the city below.
About this house: Situated on a half-acre promontory, the house has views of the L.A. Basin from downtown to the ocean. Surrounded by its own gardens, trails, streams and waterfalls, it also has a number of amenities for entertaining.
